I can’t tell you how fulfilling it is to receive messages from trained coaches explaining how they are using our New Insights life coaching programme to change the world in relatively small yet very positive and sometimes surprising ways!
Last week I was contacted by certified coach, Christel Rohrs, who I had met many months ago. She is about to embark on realising a very selfless dream that will make a huge difference in the lives of kids and young people who have fallen victim to what can only be called a horrific crime against humanity.
More about this – and how you may be able to help – later.
A programme of personal transformation
The New Insights life coaching system that our trainee coaches are licensed to administer represents a six month programme of personal transformation. Clients embark on an inspiring journey during which they really get to know who they are, what they are truly capable of and what they are here to do.
We encourage the coaches we train to choose a niche market that best suits their interests and experience. By doing so, coaches are able to connect with those clients they most want to serve. In our experience this makes for the most financially successful – and happy – coaches.
Niche markets could include teenagers, newly retired folk, people wanting to get fit and lose weight, executives wanting more work/life balance, stay at home mothers, newlyweds, career minded people, people confronting significant change, and so on and so on.
Christel … and a very unusual niche
In the case of Christel, her niche market is very unusual. She has chosen to devote herself to use her life coaching skills to address the potentially soul destroying effects that sex trafficking has on its victims. What makes her decision even more laudable is that she has chosen to volunteer her services.
Christel, who is currently based in South Africa, has chosen to work in Thailand. The United Nations Human Rights Council has identified Thailand as the world’s major source and destination of the men, women and children who are victimised by the sex trade industry.
Christel lived and volunteered in Thailand before in 2005 and 2006 when she was involved in rehabilitating young girls between the tender ages of 6 and 15 years who had been forced into prostitution and subsequently rescued from the sex industry.
Between 2009 and 2011 Christel worked with the LA Police Department in Los Angeles, USA helping to combat human trafficking. In 2011 she returned to South Africa and chose to train as a life coach with New Insights.
Christel takes up the story:
“I was approached by the founders of an organisation called ‘Freedom 418’ in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Their mission is to rehabilitate the young kids who get rescued from sex trafficking by the Thai government.
These kids who are trafficked across the Myanmar (Burma), Laos and Chinese borders, are so young. Despicable though it sounds, children of just 5 and 6 are being used in brothels for oral sex.
My role will be as a life coach and mentor. Part of the rehabilitation programme will involve life coaching to give these kids a realistic chance of a decent future, despite the terrible start. I will be using the New Insights system and materials with the more adult women and will do some adaptation for use with the younger kids.
My plan is to go for an indefinite period of time (perhaps up to 15 years) and to return home once a year to refresh my mind and hopefully attract more sponsors, who are, of course, vital for me to continue.
The New Insights Programme has aptly prepared me for this journey. Had I not done the New Insights training, I honestly believe I would not be suitably equipped for everything that lies ahead. Through New Insights, I have been able to live out my purpose.”
We wish Christel every success with this venture and will be encouraging her to start and maintain a blog where we can keep track of her experiences and successes as she changes the world in her unique way.

Christel and I go waaaaaay back to school days in the ’80s . Her story has inspired me ( amongst many others ) . Her heart for people , and her love for others , coupled with a desire to make a difference in this world makes her a very special friend and woman . Your courage and strength is remarkable my friend – go with God , as I know you do … and never forget that you have the support and prayers of many in this amazing work you are going to do .
Dear Christel ( via Bill ),
To read what you have done in the past and what you are about to do was so inspiring for me! As a counselor for LifeLine for the past 5 years here in Durban, I have just a small experience of what you are doing! You must have incredible mental strength to help the victims of the sex trade industry as their experiences must be soul destroying. May you be given all the assistance that you need – financially and spiritually – to accomplish what you plan to do. I see many blessings coming your way and I pray for your success in your rehabilitation programme in such a far distant land.
Wow Christel – what a fantastic way to use your Training, Skills and Experience! You will give hope and encouragement to so many broken lives and make an eternal significance! Please, please do start and maintain a blog where we can be in prayer and support of you and your work! All Gods richest Blessings ! Laurie
As a fellow New Insights Life Coach in the same town as Christel, I congratulate her on a truly selfless decision. May she bring about healing in the lives of all those with whom she comes in contact. Let us all pray for a change of heart in the lives of the perpetrators of this terrible crime against humanity.
