Dying to Live
Most of us are dying to live the lives we truly desire.
Many feel frustration, disillusionment and even resentment at their seeming inability to bring this about.
The critical issue is the approach we choose to take.

Freedom, Confidence, Growth.
These are the three words that I chose as a strapline for New Insights Life Coach Training when I took over the reins many years ago.
They are as relevant today as they were then. They neatly summarise the enlightening journey of self-discovery. that one goes through in transformational life coaching, such as that promoted by New Insights Life Coach Training.
That journey starts with gaining the freedom of mind and spirit that comes with a profound new level of self-awareness. From that comes a huge boost in self-belief or confidence, which in turn spurs the personal growth and development that provides meaning and leaves one feeling fulfilled.

Life coaching has proven to be incredibly popular as a means of personal development and transformation.
Although still relatively new, its popularity has encouraged astute marketers, hungry for an edge in the race for commercial gain, to create niche markets through rebranding, reinventing and repositioning life coaching and aspects of life coaching.
Many of these offerings should be viewed with caution by those interested in training to become a life coach

The advent of a new calendar year provides a welcome psychological boost for many who yearn to change their lives for the better.
What better time for a New Year’s Resolution?
Only, it has been proven that New Year’s Resolutions seldom, if ever, work to deliver the changes desired.
In this post, Bill explores some of the key reasons and offers a far more powerful and effective alternative that is all but guaranteed to bring about lasting change.
“Values.”
We frequently hear the word bandied around by politicians, leaders and sports coaches in reference to collective values.
But, as individuals, how much time and energy do we tend to allocate to deep reflection about what our personal values are, and what priority we assign to them?
Given their critical importance in our lives … shockingly little!

Identifying your life purpose is the ultimate aim of transformational coaching as New Insights perceives of it. It is considered the source of meaning, fulfilment, joy and happiness.
So, imagine Bill’s surprise when he heard Sadhguru, one of India’s leading gurus and visionaries, promote the idea that we should stop looking for purpose in life.
This caused him to analyse carefully what Sadhguru was saying and to reevaluate the New Insights approach to life purpose.

At some point in life, each of us is called on to step up and be a leader in some shape or form, no matter how insignificant or significant it may seem at the time. And, during the rest of our lives, we stand in judgement of those who are appointed as our leaders, be that in the political, business or societal spheres.
So, it stands to reason that all of us need an understanding of what good, effective leadership is.

What’s the point of life and living?
It’s surprising – perhaps shocking is a better word – that this is not a question that occupies our minds more frequently.
In this article, Bill discusses how, to our detriment, the distractions of the world around us serve to prevent introspection and a sound connection with our ‘core vital’ – our reason for being.
There’s a general lack of understanding amongst the public about what life coaching really is and what life coaches really do. Most misguidedly believe it to be some form of mentoring or advice-giving service.
And some life coaches stray from their calling and ‘play to the gallery’ by trying to be problem-solvers.
However, the authentic life coach is one committed to coaching that transforms the client’s thinking and behaviours, such that they find the opportunity that lies masked behind their problems.

By 2025 the number of mobile devices in use worldwide is expected to reach more than 18bn. That’s more than two for every person on this planet!
Mobile technology has become indispensable for certain day-to-day applications … but some keep us ‘heads down’ with features that are highly addictive but with questionable value when it comes to promoting our quality of life.
In this post, Bill considers the emergent heads-down culture and suggests that we should try to resist being victims of its insidious effects.

The power of the collective to bring about change is seldom questioned and often clearly demonstrated during democratic election times such as that we are witnessing in 2024.
But the power of the individual is given less attention, with many doubting their ability to impact the world in any meaningful way.
In today’s post, Bill explains why this doubt is so misplaced.

The pressures and demands of the modern day world are such that many of us find our lives are trained on trying to meet the expectations of others. In the process we become further slowly more disconnected from who we are and what it is that is important to us.

At New Insights we encourage our trained life coaches to employ a technique that we call ‘The Edge’.
There are two important facets to effective life coaching. Both must be used in tandem if coaching is to be optimally effective.
If used as intended by the coach, The Edge can produce results that are quite mind blowing.

When it comes to the study of human motivation, those who remain fixated on ‘following the science’ are likely to be disappointed.
In this post, Bill argues that the power of life coaching lies in its ability to recognise and harness concepts that cannot be neatly explained in scientific terms. As he implies, the secret to living the life you love requires acceptance that there is a certain ‘magical ‘ element to life.
