Through life coaching one can easily transform one’s attitude and approach to life such that it becomes altogether more fulfilling, meaningful and enjoyable.
In my opinion – one shared by a great many life coach practitioners – life coaching is the ideal solution for those seeking joy, happiness and inner peace in what is a demanding, confusing and very challenging era.
But, as many life coaches will appreciate, this message often lands on infertile ground. We live in an increasingly sceptical and time starved world. There is a tendency to prioritise the quick relief of frequent headaches over the proper understanding and treatment of the cause of the pain.
So, for those who feel time constrained, I have drawn on experience from life coaching, to offer up 20 quick and powerful tips for living a better life.
These are in no particular order:
Find your Purpose
Each of us came into this world uniquely equipped to play a role in the collective mission to help the universe grow and evolve.
Don’t waste the opportunity to contribute to this mission by neglecting to uncover your purpose just because you are too busy coping with what life throws at you!
Enjoy yourself for who you are, not how you match up.
Constant comparison with others is a waste of energy. Their life is their life. Your life is your life. Embrace your uniqueness. Live and let live without comparison or judgement.
Embrace your past
Don’t harbour regrets about your past. You cannot change it and it need not define you. Learn and grow from your rich and unique tapestry of life experiences.
Live in the now
The more effort you put into living joyfully in the now, the more joyful your future nows will be.
Embody inner calmness
Practise the art of silently counting to fifty when you feel anger or rage building inside. Consider the source of your frustration in the bigger scheme of things and ask yourself whether it is really worth such disruption to your vibrational harmony.
Seek out the funny side of life
If a situation confuses, bewilders, frustrates or disappoints you, look for reasons to laugh about it. You’ll find many. Laughter is, indeed, the best medicine!
Maintain a healthy balance
Ask yourself what you feel you need most from life right now? The chances are it’ll be something that’s missing from your life. Find a constructive way to put it back … and get back into balance.
Don’t compromise on your passion
There are times in your life when you may need to compromise by doing more or less of what it is you really love … but never compromise to the point where you cut it out of your life altogether.
Treat money as an enabler not an end in itself
Don’t pursue money without knowing very clearly why you are doing so. Money is a wonderful commodity when you use it to bring more joy to your life. Pursuing money for money’s sake is a meaningless waste of time and energy.
Appreciate human diversity as you appreciate diversity in nature
Celebrate the differences in humans in the same way you celebrate and admire the diversity of our plant and animal kingdoms. If you struggle with this, just imagine how you would feel being part of a world of 8 billion clones of yourself!
Swallow an action pill
Taking action, no matter how small at first, is the antidote for a range of ills like procrastination, overwhelm, uncertainty, confusion and more. Action brings about change. Change opens up possibility. Possibility feeds creativity. Creativity brings about growth.
Live authentically
You cannot derive true joy and fulfilment from pretending to be someone you are not.
Stay rooted in possibility
When you encounter problems and challenges in life, as we all do, shut out your ego’s tendency to dwell on your worst fears and keep focused on what is possible. Problems are really just opportunities for growth and development, sometimes in heavy disguise!
Understand that what you think and say about others says a lot about who you are
When you find yourself feeling anger, intolerance, envy or hatred towards others, know that this is simply a projection of your own nature and issues.
Take regular time out from ‘life as usual’
Allow yourself plenty of time to reflect, recover and recharge. Life is both challenging and exciting and to live it to the full you need to be at your best. Manage your mental and physical energy stores carefully.
Channel your thoughts
Your thoughts are the most powerful creative force you possess. Practise thinking empowering thoughts.
Trust your inner being (also called your inner voice or your intuition)
This is your connection to source. It is pure and uncontaminated by miscommunication, limiting beliefs, worst fears and the expectations and demands of the external world.
Keep an open mind
We were meant to question things. Life is far more intricate, mysterious and amazing than we could ever imagine. Just look up at the night sky to appreciate that not everything is as it seems. It follows that anything and everything is possible.
Put yourself first
You cannot give of your best to the world if you do not prioritise the cultivation of your own strength, talent and capacity. Self love does not have to be selfish.
Embrace the three Gs
Practice Gratitude, Graciousness and Giving. These are powerful and selfless ways to add great joy and fulfilment to your life.

Powerful tips indeed. My favourite is “swallow an action pill”. I believe it is action that is needed to “do” and to implement all this tips towards a better life.
Thank you
Hi Vuyelwa,
Yes, indeed, without taking action, everything else is just ‘feel good’ 🙂
