At New Insights we believe that the ultimate aim of life coaching is to help people find and live the purpose that they are here on earth to carry out.
Our transformational coaching programme is specifically designed to help clients achieve this.
But the concept of life purpose is only visited in the advanced stages of the coaching programme. That’s because most people are simply not ready for a heady discussion about ‘life purpose’ when they start out with coaching.
In fact, many are sceptical that such a thing even exists!
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”
– Pablo Picasso
Little sense
Frankly, who can blame them?
To a great many people, life makes very little sense.
Brief periods of fun, joy and happiness seem to be overshadowed by long spells of battling to overcome challenges, surmount obstacles, placate others and endure excruciatingly boring routines in the struggle just to make ends meet and survive.
Let’s face it. When you are trapped on a treadmill in an environment that smacks of poorly organised chaos, it’s difficult to comprehend that you’re part of any grand and wondrous plan, never mind that you may have a life purpose.
We’ve been subverted
Who would possibly have designed life to be like this? many might argue.
There’s a very simple answer … we did!
It was the choice of the human race or – more accurately – an elite few, to design life such that the majority of us can be controlled or manipulated by money and power.
As a species, we have been subverted into believing that being successful equates to having one or the other – or preferably both – of these commodities!
When you open your eyes to that, the scale of the abuse of power and enormity of corruption that we experience in this world is far easier to understand.
Retrain your focus
So, if you are one of those who struggle to come to terms with the concept of life purpose, my advice is to train your focus away from the self inflicted problems and issues that we face in day-to-day living and towards the natural environment and indeed, the heavens above.
There you will find beauty, precision, harmony and perfect balance – the stuff of a supremely well orchestrated grand plan of which we are a small, but important part!
An active role to play
The universe is constantly expanding and evolving and, as advanced life forms, we have an active role to play in this.
At New Insights, we believe that each one of us has a unique contribution to make to this divine process of growth and evolution – a contribution for which we are each uniquely equipped.
A unique gift
Looked at another way, each of us comes into this world with an inherently unique gift that we develop over time. It could be resilience, teaching ability, the capacity to inspire others, physical strength, intellect, language prowess, great love for fellow humans … you name it!
Our life purpose is to use our gift as effectively as we can – to follow our passion in service of the evolution of our species, planet and universe.
The reward
And the reward for doing this is to experience freedom, joy and a wonderful sense of fulfilment.
Very simply, as Robert Byrne so elegantly phrased it: “The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose!”
The real meaning of success
Find your life purpose, follow your passion and get to experience true happiness.
Now that’s the real meaning of success. 🙂
Thank you Bill what an inspiring insights. I am actually back on track with my certificate course and I am doing practical coaching with clients. I feel excited of the results they share with me.
Thank you for such an inspiring blog, I am determined now more than ever to start my training. I have this sense of immense joy.
That sounds wonderful – I’m so pleased!
Thank You Bill. This is for me one of the most important moments in the New Insights Transformational Life Coaching Programme. Reaching this stage during my own Certification training and being guided by own coach at the time, Lyn Smith, was truly a highlight. In fact, although tweaked a little since then, that version of My Life Purpose is still hanging on my wall and I proudly look at it daily. It is my source of guidance, my one page go to recharge station that continues to provide me with ongoing inspiration.
So, does Life Purpose really exist? Oh yes it does!
That’s brilliant Jan – well done!
When one reaches this point, one’s life be comes filled with depth, meaning and significance. Thank you for sharpening our awareness, Bill, of the need to keep digging deeper until we find our true purpose.

You’re so welcome Japhta!!
Bill great comments and content. Watching one of the training videos again where Neil mentioned that goals are considered as finite having an end point and purpose is continuous, ongoing. This helped remind me of my commitment to myself when i decided my passion was life coaching. I find it fulfilling and challenging, it is fueled by my purpose. Thank you.
