Choose Your Moments

Home » Choose Your Moments

We all know, deep in our hearts, that we are responsible…

We are responsible for our lives. The good, the bad and even the ugly bits that go to make up the totality of our experiences.

“Happiness comes from within!”

“Money can’t buy happiness!”

And on the clichés go…

[box type=\”shadow\”]This week\’s article is our first guest article on the Life Coaching Insights Blog. And the honour goes to my wife, Jenni – also part life coach, part exercise and dance teacher, part mother and part housewife![/box]

Buddha once proclaimed:

\”LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL

LIFE IS CHANGE

CHANGE IS HARD

LIFE IS HARD

BUT … LIFE IS STILL BEAUTIFUL!\”

I love that because it’s true of my life. That passage resonates with me – it works for me and sets a warm vibration going that allows me to exhale…

“It is all O.K.”

Much like the letting go that happens when sliding into a hot bath.

It is in these blissful moments of contentment that we are most likely to set forth our intentions. Lying in the warm water, we relax and trust the process. Knowingly, we give thanks, in advance, for what we will receive.

We all experience these moments. We are born knowing. We have the gift of consciousness. We have the power of intention.

But sometimes we forget.

We become overwhelmed by the business of living. Our thoughts become scattered and unfocused. Our actions become frenetic. We multi-task. We operate in the subconscious, on “automatic pilot”, until we are worn out… And, only then, do we pull back to present.

“Exhale. Back-to-centre. Breathe. Calm.”

When will we learn?

When she wanted and needed my attention – undivided; when she needed my focus and presence – and not half an ear, my beautiful, indigo daughter once said to me –

“You are not a human being, you are a human doing…”

Out of the mouths of babes!

Our children quietly observe and then gift us with pearls of wisdom. They are our greatest teachers. They remind us.

How often do we give our most important, the least? How often do we waste our vital energy on insignificance and procrastination?

Wouldn’t it be FABULOUS if we could skip all the performance and stay in the warm bath!!

The good news is, we can!

With conscious awareness and deliberate intent, we can choose our moments. Choose and decide.

By setting our intentions for every segment of our day, we can take our power back.

By defining exactly what outcome we expect, we can regain our focus. What we focus on expands.

Trust, and allow manifestation to take place.

When we focus upon the specifics of what we want in a given moment, we bring clarity and power to our creation.

Know that by our deliberate intending, we are in creative CONTROL of our life experience.

Great happiness and contentment can be ours, when we find the perfect flowing balance of Gratitude, Intention, Allowing and Receiving – and Gratitude once again.

Try it. I guarantee you’ll like it!

Thank you Jenni for your wonderful and inspiring post.

The reference to your daughter brought a smile to my face as it reminded me of an experience I had with my youngest son … one which inspired the poem ‘Ask Me About My Day’ …. would like to share it with you but not sure if I am able to post here so will send to Bill :).

  2. lovely article Jenni. and i agree with you that we can choose our moments with conscious awareness. and that because we have this choice, this freedom, we are fully responsible for our lives and destiny – eish…. Oriah Mountain Dreamer has some wonderful poems and articles that i draw from continually (woman – woman), coz it’s so easy to forget with the rapid lives we lead. being on autopilot is just so much easier 🙂 but so less rewarding! i also like Desiree’s comments – although sometimes i like the clouds myself! Good reminder and thank you for this insight!

  3. “We have the power of intention”. Thanks, Jenni! This sparked my memory, and I recalled something I penned after reading another New Insights’ article on Intention on 18 March 2009 if I am correct. Pardon my indulgence.

    Intention

    You can embrace intention
    Like a forgotten abandoned friend
    And scope out your destiny
    That has for too long
Laid buried in your dreams and desires.

Resolve, firmly, to live your calling
    Eschewing fear and frailty
    And daring to shift body
    And mind to the edges
    Where dreams come true!

  4. Wendy, that is because we come from the earth, and it is only in communion with her that we are grounded, and centred. Head in the clouds, feet on the ground.
    Thanks for a great article.

  6. Thank you Jenni, this one really ‘hit the spot’ with me.. Somebody once told me I have “a mind like a butterfly” and it is oh, so true.. But I keep on trying to put a net over it! 😉

  7. Thank you Jenni, how true. Just to share with you I started meditatimg and praying and it works wonders as it is a constant reminder of what one wants. It calms you down and helps you surrender and re-focus. Its a wonderful way of living your life.

Thank you once again, have a superb day!
